Day 20 Grasmere to Patterdale.

Looking down Great Tongue
Another great day, sun shining and hardly a cloud in the sky.
Walk up the main road the off into Tongue Gill, where we take Little Tongue Gill to get us up Grisedale Hause, the big climb of the day.
As we climb two Lancaster bombers fly up the valley over Grasmere!! I am told later that the one remaining Lancaster in UK and one from Canada are appearing at some show up north.
We make slow progress, as it’s quite steep, yet make it by 10.30AM.
It’s then downhill most of the day, past Grisedale Tarn, which on my previous trip was misted over, is in full view.
Grisedale Tarn

Downhill along Grisedale Gill, past the Outward Bound hut, past fine drystone walls and finally into the village of Patterdale and our accommodation, the White Lion Inn.
Another short day, we are in at 12.30PM and have our lunch with a beer. That’s holidays!
Our room is tiny, the shower doesn’t drain, the menu looks crap BUT the beer is good and the local shop sells great ice-cream.

Ya gotta take the good with the bad!!
